Beijing, August 2nd, 2004 - Outside
the Fortress was the first novel to be released on mobile phones
in China. The author, Fuchang Qian, is a renowned writer at the
Chinese Academy of Guangdong. On July 30, 2004, Fuchang Qian announced
that Hurray! had purchased the exclusive copyrights to the novel,
including the SMS, WAP and IVR versions. Since its release, the
novel has been embraced by the media and telecom service providers.
Copyright issues have also attracted a great deal of attention from
the public and readers.
Founded in September 1999, Hurray! is a renowned wireless value-added
service operator in China. After its exclusive purchase of the novel,
Hurray! will further develop additional versions of Outside of the
Fortress, allowing users to read it via SMS, WAP and IVR. Hurray!
was interested in the cellular novel concept and was anxious to
partner with the author to promote it, said Hurray!'s market director.
To allow the widest circulation, Hurray! will publish Outside the
Fortress in its various versions across China.
Today, mobile phones play an increasingly important role in modern
life. Mobile phones have evolved from a simple communications tool
into an entertainment center by virtue of technological innovation.
